Three of the most famous national parks of Tanzania in three days. You will first visit the Tarangire National Park with its large elephant herds and the impressive baobab trees. Afterward, you will head to the Ngorongoro crater, a true animal paradise with the chance to observe the “Big Five” in one day. Finally, Lake Manyara National Park with its tree-climbing lions and more than 400 different bird species awaits you.
After breakfast, you will be picked up by a Shelukass Adventures driver guide at your hotel, and you drive to Tarangire National Park. In 1970, the national park emerged from a former colonial hunting ground. It has a very diverse animal of the world, not least because of its size, which corresponds to approximately Luxembourg. The park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in the north of Tanzania but is also home to many other wild animals. With some luck, you can spot lions, cheetahs, or leopards. The landscape of the park is very diverse. Especially the huge baobab trees, which are located close together in the north-eastern sector of the park, are particularly impressive.
After an extensive game drive, you will drive directly to Karatu for dinner and overnight at the booked lodge
After an early breakfast, you will drive past the small town of Karatu and go partly on an adventurous road 600 meters down to the crater. The crater has a diameter of 17.2 km. Nearly all wildlife and diversity of the East African savannah has gathered here. Only giraffes and a few other animal species for which rocks are too steep for them do not live here.
Approximately 15000 to 2500 are gathered here depending on season. Therefore, more than two-thirds of buffaloes, gnus, zebras, and gazelles gather here in this park. This large number of grazers also explains why in the crater the largest density of predators in Africa can be found. Besides other predators, more than 100 lions live here in several prides. The chances of watching the “Big Five” lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard within just a few hours are here particularly good.
In the afternoon it goes up again to the steep crater walls and drives back to Karatu or camp at the crater rim in the park. At Simba campsite.
Get picked up at your hotel after breakfast and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Drive along the East African rift valley wall before reaching Lake Manyara National Park. The larger part of the park is dominated by Lake of the same name. Large colonies of waterbirds gather at this lake including colored flamingos, Ground Hornbill, Cormorants, Storks, Pelicans, and many more. Among the animals found here include tree climbing lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and hippos.
Enjoy your game drive and have lunch at noon. In the late afternoon, you will drive out of the park heading for Arusha.
