The Great Migration

The Great Migration is one of the most spectacular wildlife events on Earth. Every year, over 1.2 million wildebeest and a significant amount of zebras embark on a treacherous journey across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in search of greener pastures. This epic migration covers over 1,800 miles and is fraught with danger. Wildebeests and zebras must navigate treacherous terrain, cross crocodile-infested rivers, and face the constant threat of predators.

The migration is triggered by the changing seasons. In the dry season, the wildebeests and zebras congregate in the southern Serengeti. As the rains begin, they move north to the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The migration follows a circular route, and the animals return to the southern Serengeti in the dry season. 

The Great Migration is an awe-inspiring sight to behold. Seeing the vast herds of wildebeests and zebras thundering across the plains is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The migration is also an important ecological event. It helps to maintain the balance of the ecosystem and provides food for predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
